COMMENTS from a Parent
 This letter comes from a Mr Neil Stiles of Wokingham, Surrey, whose daughter, Laura, found herself in dire straits upon discovering in July 2007 that she needed to retake a module on her Finance and Business Studies degree at Kingston University. Alas, Laura also found that for all their glossy literature and claims to care for students, in fact there was no-one available for advice or help when she begged the University for assistance. – Mr Stiles turned in desperation to ICUT, and here he takes up the story.
Please note that Mr Stiles has specifically asked for his daughter’s experience to be publicised, and is happy to waive the normal option of anonymity. He strongly believes that Kingston University should be held to account for the “..sloppy indifference..” which Laura experienced.
Dear Dr McKee,
I write with good news. My daughter, Laura, undertook the resit exam, has passed and now will finally attain the degree she was after. In all honesty, I cannot thank you and your ICUT tutor, Isaack Okwaro, enough.
When we first spoke I was the father of a hard working but very worried daughter. I have to confess to some nervousness having found your organisation on the Web ! However your confident " can do" attitude went a long way towards assuaging my fears. My daughter and I had certainly circled the wagons and the tutor you sent us, Isaack, was first class. He was polite, kind and a very skilful coach who instilled confidence in my daughter from the moment he met her. Isaac had a strong grasp of the subject and the specific material to be revised. Actually, he was the quintessential teacher; he never gave answers, but merely asked the right questions. A real professional in my view!
Naturally, I would be very confident in recommending I.C.U.T to students in general everywhere, and specifically Isaack for anyone in a similar situation to the one in which we found ourselves over the outgoing Summer. Good luck to you and ICUT over times ahead; you’re doing a sterling job that needs to be done.
