Regulations and Standards
NOTE: From Wednesday 21st April 2010 ICUT(UK) Ltd. will move to a NEW all inclusive price charging system. This means that prices will specify VAT (currently 17.5%); a requirement imposed by Parliament and not of our choosing.
However, special packages will still be available by negotiation with the Director.
- ICUT will endeavour to provide the best standard of tutoring and support to our students, ICUT tutors are pledged to working for the best performance of each student under his/her charge.
- In the unlikely event of a student being dissatisfied with an ICUT tutor, they should contact the Director, whereupon a new tutor will be offered. Should none be available, a refund will be considered.
- ICUT is pledged to work fairly for the benefit of all its students without prejudices of race, religion, age, social status, language, nationality, regional identity, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
- ICUT will offer students a tutor who in the Director’s opinion is best qualified to meet the student’s academic needs. Please note that requests for tutors based on gender, racial, religious, ethnic, ageist, sexual orientation, social status, physical ability or other such preferences will not be considered.
- Students are assured that all tutors appointed have been vetted by the Director for qualifications, professional experience and competence. References have also been taken up and examination certificates checked.
- Students should note that tutors' work records, professional history and personal details are confidential. Such information will be retained in appropriate privacy by the Director. Therefore students and parents should not make requests for the CVs of individual tutors, as such requests will be refused without hesitation. Nor does ICUT permit students or their parents to interview tutors ahead of the commencement of teaching.
- Students should note that where a session has been booked and payment received ICUT will not normally provide refunds for late cancellations other than in exceptional circumstances. Where a session has to be changed or postponed, the student should normally contact the Director with a minimum of 24 hours notice, otherwise full payment will be required.
- Although tutoring fees are subject to negotiation, the normal fee will be based around £25 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£29.38), except that in London, the South Eastern Counties, Oxford and Cambridge, the normal fee will be based around £30 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£35.25). However, ICUT is willing to offer special packages for longer sessions and on-line sessions.
- Special rates are available for proof-reading, assignment guidance and essay support based on £25 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£29.38), except in London, the South Eastern Counties, Oxford and Cambridge, Edinburgh and the Lothians, where the rate is based on £30 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£35.25), but with competitive packages available at the Director's discretion.
- Rates for tutoring Law throughout the country are £30 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£35.25). Also, where the tutor needs to research the subject as a pre-requisite to teaching, the research will have to be paid at the same hourly rate as teaching.
- Rates for tutoring for university Summer Re-sit examinations are normally based on £30 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£35.25) across the country, except in London, the South Eastern counties, Oxford and Cambridge, Edinburgh and the Lothians, where the rate will normally be £35 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£41.13).
- Rates for tutoring of post-graduate students are normally based on £30 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£35.25) across the country, except in London, the South Eastern counties, Oxford and Cambridge, Edinburgh and the Lothians, where the rate will normally be £35 per hour (+VAT @ 17.5%=£41.13). Post-graduate rates remain the same all year round.
- Where a tutor needs to make the journey in excess of 5 miles in urban areas and 8 miles in rural areas, the client will be charged the full travel costs by either railways or coach or private vehicle at 25 Pence per mile. Furthermore, where the tutor is travelling in excess of 15 miles for an extended session lasting not less than 3 hours, the client will be charged for a subsistence refreshments fee of £5.00p.
- In registering with ICUT (UK), clients/students are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions stated here as the basis for a working arrangment.
- Note that all rates are now quoted both before and after VAT.
- The normal minimum length of a tutorial for graduates and undergraduates is 2 hours and for other students it is 90 minutes. Any variation from this must be negotiated in advance with the Director.
- Fees and other expenses will be set by ICUT, and tutors engaged by ICUT are required to work with those terms. Furthermore, it will be assumed that by the acceptance of an ICUT assignment, the tutor will have accepted ICUT's terms and conditions of engagement..
- It will be assumed that tutors have familiarised themselves with the Regulations and procedures of ICUT in respect of students, and are deemed to be in support of ICUT's terms and practices.
Payment Terms
- A modest registration fee is payable by all students amounting to approximately 0.8 of the first tutorial fee. This fee must be settled at registration.
- Tutoring fees must be settled in advance of each session. Post-payments are not normally acceptable, due to adverse past experiences.
- Discount rates are available to students wishing to pay for four or more tutoring sessions in advance.
- Acceptable payment methods: debit/credit cards, cheque, bank transfer or cash. (cheques to be made payable to ICUT {UK}). Note all major debit/credit cards accepted, ie. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Switch, Solo, Barclaycard etc. other than Diners Card.
- Please note that a £5 surcharge is levied on payments made by credit card.
